I totally agree. He's seriously lacking as a manager in this area. Others before him gave youngsters an opportunity. It's not as if Nwaneri will be played every week. He only comes in when Odegaard is injured and does not have to be replaced in 70 minutes if it does not work out for him. As terrible as Troussard was, Arteta kept playing him.

Just because the kid is from Real does not mean he is good. He did the same to Smith Rowe who only got his chance because Willian was stuck in Brazil during COVID. He never started Willian again after that! He said he favours experience. But he wasn't experienced when he took over at Arsenal.

There's a simple fact that proves that Arteta didn't manage Nwaneri minutes properly:

- His longest cameo was against Newcastle away: one of the toughest stadiums in the league against one of the most physical teams, when own team is dismantled.

Is this planned youngster development? No, this is desperation.

Another aspect: If youngster is a risk, it means they should be introduced either when the team is already winning to minimise their impact on a result or when the opponent is clearly not strong.

Fact: Nwaneri was given minutes against Inter (0-1), Newcastle (0-1), Liverpool(2-2), Leicester(2-2), Spurs(1-0) - the only game when we had a lead.

Nwaneri was not given minutes agains Shakhtar, Southampton (even after 3-1), PSG (after 2-0).

So it a planned youngster development or is it throwing in the 17-year old to save the game?
