Apparently if we do sign Sesko, this is the first year when a player can no longer be cup tied in the Champions League.

I hear lacazette on loan for 6 months is mooted. Surely this is bullshit lol

Saw him play in the Olympics..not what we want back....

LOL, even Arteta or whoever is handling transfers with him can't be that stupid. Only Henry has ever come back.

Exactly ridiculous to even suggest that

You know that we don't have a director of football in place right?

We have someone who was Edu's protege deputizing that position - someone who's never managed a transfer window as head honcho before

Just reminding you of that, for every time you come in asking ...why we haven't signed anyone

Matheus Cunha had agreed terms with Arsenal but also with Wolves on new deal.

He is now refusing to sign it because he feels he has a chance of going to Arsenal and is trying everything to make it happen.

The last time I felt this down about Arsenal that I can remember was when Koscielny and Szcz fluffed a simple clearance and gifted Birmingham the league cup.

I haven’t bothered watching match of the day or any other highlights.

This was a big time gut punch.

Just really sad days.

Really bad week. Hope the boys can lift themselves but I’m not holding out hope.

The curse of Don Emery has hopefully run its course …

We share the same last low point of our Arsenal lives

I remember that day in 2011, that was the last time I truly felt pain

Wenger prepared me very well. I owe him that much.

Ughhh. I’m still not over it. Can’t say I’ve ever wished OBAFEMI Martins well ever since lol. Funny it was almost de ja vu in the FA cup against Hull. That would have been even a greater disaster smh

There will be no signing this window, which in a way is good news as I do not trust Arteta on any signing anymore, he for some reasons will sign the wrong guy for a wrong price will play them couple of times and will freeze them out.

If there will be a move probably a loan from abroad which again will make no difference as will be just another Sterling.

Another matter which needs to be discussed is what will be our requirements next season?

We need a minimum squad of 25 players with at least 2 players covering each position.

There are in my assessment SEVEN TO EIGHT players likely to leave this summer. These

are:

NETO [GK] loan contract ends this summer and will be 36 next season.

STERLING [W] loan contract ends this summer and has underperformed

PARTEY [DMF] contract ends this summer and I don't expect it to be renewed

JORGINHO [DMF] contract ends this summer and will be 33. Unlikely to renew.

TIERNEY [LB] contract ends this summer and injury prone.

ZINCHENKO [LB] no longer considered starter, injury prone and on high wages.

TOMIYASU [FB] persistently injured.

Two other players could also leave ie KIWIOR and JESUS.

That is a lot of holes to fill. The question is do we have the budget particularly if we are buying

a striker.

Arsenal have a dilemma.

It is crystal clear to me and probably most Arsenal Supporters that we lack a "striker" who is

a clinical finisher, but more importantly consistent in his performance level.

Such players don't grow on trees. They are very few on the market and they cost the earth. In

the game currently there are perhaps 3-4 in the right age bracket.

Mbappe and Haaland have been signed up by Real Madrid and Man City and are unavailable.

Most of the others like Kane, Salah and Lewandowski are at tail end of their careers.

Arsenal have been linked with a lot of forwards this season, but realistically few are of the

quality and consistency to justify the astronomic transfer fees and wages that are being demanded.

Pedro has discussed this on another thread. So I will add my tuppence to the discussion.

First Arsenal must not make an acquisition, which is a short term solution costing us a lot of money. We need to invest in a player who is going to play at top level for 4-5 years.

The centre forwards who have been discussed recently are:

OSIMHEN. Frankly I don't like the smell of this acquisition. The fact that this player was dumped by Napoli and landed up on loan in Turkey suggests to me that there is something

seriously wrong there.

GYOKERES. This player made absolutely no impact when he played previously in England.

However, he may be a late developer and has scored a lot of goals for Sporting Lisbon. My

suspicion is that if Amorin survives at Manchester United he will move there this summer.

ISAK. Is considered to be the form player in European Game. Has been injury prone in past.

Unlikely to leave in January or for that matter if Newcastle qualifies for Champions League.

Will cost ridiculous money if he goes.

SESKO. Young player in his early 20s. Has got the right profile, but is as yet not the finished

article. Will cost a lot of money, but is probably affordable by Arsenal. The question is will he

be available in January? This would be my preference of four listed. We will need probably

to go an extra mile to buy him.

Having a cheating VAR is what cost 3points in that game....there were other options to Partey though - keep him in midfield and have Tierney where he's covered for Scotland at CB 💁🏼‍♂️

Wow its noisy in here, probably all the hooligans in the comments banging the bloody drums.

We are down to dregs now, it's ridiculous, if we don't hit the January transfer window we could well miss out on champions league places.

I saw the line up and said it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I was surprised at how well we were playing though and at two nil up, comfortable, I thought we had the game in the bag but Emery who loves to return and haunt us (he prob marks this game on his calendar with a special 📌 when the fixtures are released) did it again and Villa put some great crosses in and exposed our right back for what he is - which is, a defensive midfielder, still he should be doing better.

What the game cemented for me, was how good a player we have in MLS.

Last year we played them and it was clear that Rogers (the first time I saw him) had the better of Rice in the middle of the park and pretty much won them the game, he was excellent.

Yesterday MLS pocketed the guy!

It was hreat to watch, he had him rattled, I've not seen Rogers so frustrated before - he was lucky to avoid a booking too until he got one in the late minutes when he literally told the ref you're fucking shit!

So I'm looking forward to seeing MLS develop, he's a midfielder naturally so is inverting well from defence as required by Arteta hopefully he can take over from Partey in midfield next season.

I just hope he's not ran into the ground like Saka has been.

This is somewhat consolation on a bigger picture, which is - us probably being out of the league now.

We shouldn't be losing a 2 goal lead at home but Villa are a good side, it was always going to be a difficult game, we've lost points against worse sides this season, it just feels bad because we could taste victory.

It might have instilled some much needed belief in the lads too, that we can get a good run together regardless of all the injuries but wasn't to be.

We just haven't been able to build the momentum this year for one reason or another.

The most annoying man on the planet has to be Jaime Carragher though, he's always trying to win Liverpool the league from his armchair and can't stop talking about us, trying to add pressure by mocking us one week or shitting himself because we played well, the next, gobshite he is.

Anyway that's all just had to gey that off my chest.

Yeah ‘ spit Carragher’ is one scouse c** t all right.Straight from the Neville camp.Shits a brick when we’re playing well & looks for excuses for Liverpool. But like ‘ SnakeNeville’ never misses an opportunity to stick the knife in.

Chelsea play city this weekend. A draw would be nice to keep the wolves from the door behind us. Obviously we need a win

Pool will easily beat Ipswich

I saw Fulham play Utd and Leicester play Spurs. I fancy Utd and Spurs both to drop points there.

I predict it will be big Angie’s last game which is a pity as I’d much rather he stayed there and drives them towards an 15th place finish vs they actually get someone more capable in to finish the season

Wonder if we can cancel Sterling's loan and get someone else in if Sterling is the reason say we are unable to balance our books

Sterling will not move. I cannot see the player or Chelsea agreeing to it. Arsenal have got also on a loan Neto.

So Arsenal are prevented from taking on loan any other domestic players. The maximum number is two.

The mental gymnastics required to suggest that us getting an unknown 18 year old in Jan as cover for Ode is good even whilst accepting he’s likely not capable of making an impact this season whilst simultaneously always bemoaning Ethan as not being good enough cover for Ode this season is straight up wild Pedro

You’re bending over backwards so far your head has gone straight up your arse mate

But whatever makes artetas decision making look better is the bottom line isn’t it

As for us having no options at RB. TIMBER.

As for comparing us to Spurs because of our injuries - they frequently rock up with several first team players out injured. Our starting 11 has never missed more than a few ALL SEASON.

Excuses excuses excuses. Top 4 mindset wins you fuck all and here we are. Enjoy it

Just saw Amorim rant after the match, that was crazy, I don't think ive ever seen a manager lay into his own squad so publicly before. Interesting to see how the squad react now, should be entertaining.

Expand full comment

Sometimes you got to call a spade a spade. Amorim isn’t wrong. This lot get pampered and paid obscenely well and they are for the most part nowhere near of the level or quality needed to be playing for Man Utd.

When did being publicly critical of football players become such a stigma. Woke nonsense.

Tell them the truth and see how they react. The ones with any kind of stomach for the fight will react positively and want to prove the manager wrong. The ones that sulk will be telling us what we already knew, they’re a waste of space.

It’s definitely entertaining. I doubt it’s productive. It’s also true tho. What a mess.

And that worst Utd team ever just dumped us out of the cup at home FML

Bit odd. He's getting no money for reinforcements and he's just called them generationally shite.

A mistake that’s going to backfire.

He’s going to need most of these players because United as a club don’t have patience for a four year , 8 window complete rebuild.

Expand full comment

Think he might have them over a barrel at this point. Not sure they can fire him. Starting to look more AVB than Mourinho

Expand full comment

Amorim must be properly fed up with his squad if he thought that was good idea, that was something to watch.

Expand full comment

I don't expect anything to change. I've been saying this - Arsenal will struggle to make top 4 this season and I still maintain my position! You don't play with fire and expect fire won't burn you. Arsenal played with fire and fire is burning them. The last two seasons, Arsenal went so close to winning the EPL - it took the phenominal Man City to stop them. The problem was glaring and everybody agreed: Arsenal lacked firepower up front and needed to get a top class goal scorer. However, Arteta was adamant and insisted on buying defensive players instead to everybody's shock.

Arsenal's problem did not start with Saka injury. In fact, Arsenal's problem did not start with any injury in the team. It started with the lack of a goal machine who can guarantee league 20+ goals a goals a season - since Aubameyang was forced out. So Arteta can't blame injury, because even without injuries nothing happened .

If Arsenal can get someone like Sesko or Gyokeres this January, let them buy otherwise they should just keep their money and wait until summer.

Even if Arsenal were to get any of Haaland, Vini Jr, Mbappe or Gyokeres this month, they won't win the EPL this season. Arsenal already wasted a golden opportunity to win the EPL this season and that opportunity is far gone into thin air.

My fear is that, if Arsenal don't win anything this season, the good players will become disappointed and they may begin to lose faith in Arteta's ability to win anything with the group. Ambitious players will begin to look elsewhere. The moment that begins Arteta loses the dressing room.

Already, the players are getting worried. They're aware that no matter how good your cross or pass, there's nobody in the box or up front to finish the good job you started. It's seriously affecting the players who do the job of passing the ball up front; they have lost confidence in the players up front and the frustration is telling on their faces and in their game. Only Arteta doesn't seem to know it.

So, as far as any trophy is concerned, Arsenal should forget it, their season is over. It pains me to say it, but we have to face reality.
