It's so clear to see les miserables take every bit of good/exciting news and try to downplay/piss on it with possible negatives.
Why TF are we talking about opinions of loser fans (haters) of rival clubs, when they will never praise us, despite us being one of the best clubs in the world, with an amazing squad and playing style.
Then the same people want to cry about a youth player leaving, who may end up being a flop. If he has no loyalty, I don't care.
I know we will survive without him.
Do you think Saka, Saliba, Ødegaard, Havertz, Rice give a shit about chido whatever ?
Knowing Arsenal under Arteta and Edu, the sell on clause for Cala would amount to fuck all as we will loan hom out in 2 seasons with an obligation to buy of €12m.
Welcome Calafiori. Our 16th option at LCB/LB. What a club!!
Fabrizio and Ornstein both said it in the last couple of hours so it's basically official.
From what I've read about Calafiori, I'm not so sure if the opinions were of Italian fans who are probably jealous of Bologna pocketing good 20m+, or actual fans of Bologna, but most of them predict that Calafiori will fail here.
It's mentioned he's been a one season wonder, he's a normal (average player), that Italians don't do well in the Premier League (Scamacca was mentioned) and how Kiwior was also a top defender in Serie A but we're already getting rid of him.
That Thiago Motta deserves a statue at both Bologna and Basel who've never seen so much money.
I have a counterpoint to one tournament wonders. How did he earn the Italy call up and all those starts at the Euros? We've been on him way before the Euros started. His Euros performances (🔥) made us spend 10m extra on him but it is what it is.
Artedu got their man and I just hope he manages to fit well in the London lifestyle. I'm also interested to know if if we're only moving on Kiwior or Zina will also follow (he got a new agent the other day, could be something).
🚨 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐕𝐄: Arsenal and Bologna have reached an agreement for Riccardo Calafiori! 🔴⚪️🤝🏻
After breakthrough in talks revealed earlier, deal is in place between the two clubs for the Italian defender.
Exclusive detail: final fee will be €40m fixed plus €5m add-ons and sell-on clause also included for Bologna.
Calafiori agreed already in June on signing five year contract valid until 2029 with salary around €4m net.
Final step needed: Bologna owe 50% of the deal to FC Basel, the two clubs will be in touch to discuss details and payment terms for that fee… then, 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐠𝐨! 🇮🇹
I do have concerns about the impending departure of Obi Martin. This is not because I think that he
is a mega star in the making. Frankly he could turn out to be a flat track bully, because of his relative size. Being a prolific goalscorer in youth football is not a guarantee of success later on in
your career.
However, it does raise issues about Arsenal's current youth policy and the pathway to senior team.
Arsenal have offloaded 20 academy players this summer and lost two other players [Walters and Cozier- Barry] that we wanted to keep have decided to move elsewhere.
That raises questions about the club's career progression from Academy/U21s to Senior Team.
I have suggested on many occasions previously that Arsenal should include a couple of Academy
players in first team squad on annual basis. This should not be of course a guarantee of regular first team football, but a facilitator to give them gametime experience when the opportunity arises.
Giving Nanweri 3 minutes and 13 minutes in two games over two seasons is not my idea of progression.
Obi-Martin may turn out to be a mega star or a damp squib. Only time will tell, but the departure of
3 academy players who were wanted but chose to move elsewhere is in my view sending the wrong message.

Manchester United are interested in Danish striker phenom Chido Obi-Martin, with discussions at an early stage. The record-breaking goalscorer visited Carrington on Tuesday.
Contrary to rumours, no agreement has been found yet, nor has a final decision been made by the player.
Several other big clubs from Germany are also interested.
I am worried about the state of our midfield this summer.
I have been looking at Merino closely and he looks like what Arteta was trying to sign with Havertz last summer for that left 8 role. Duel winning, physical and can run the left channel like Xhaka did.
And apparently there is news today that they wanted a #6 to use Rice as an #8. But the market is dry for #6 players so they have pivoted in to getting an 8 like Merino. And for a #6 to come in Partey will have to leave.
So our midfield options would be Odegaard, Vieira, Merino, Rice, Partey and Jorginho. I assume ESR is leaving and Nwaneri will get the odd minutes in there.
I don't know if that is enough to win the league. We will give it a go but I don't know if that is enough if our key midfielders in Odegaard and Rice aren't on form. I would have been less worried if I didn't see worrying signs like physical decline from Partey at the end of last season. And he can't stay fit anyway. We need a #6 alongside a #8 for me. I am worried just a Merino won't be enough.
I am not convinced that Rice is an 8 as imo he is an out and out 6. He just isn’t creative enough to be an 8 although his power up front can sometimes be useful
Which is why I’m really hoping we sign an 8
And yes I’d have loved that to have been ESR but that ship seems to have sailed
He is good. A bit like Casemiro at Madrid. He is a pit bull. He isn't a Rodri though. They will have to rely a lot on Mainoo being that CM that breaks lines.
Why the shock Dissenter? He seems athletic with ball skills and footwork, that's it. More raw winger skills than a guy you want to build up play, and defend using good positioning and timing.
I was being kind saying there's no evidence..
Personally I think he looks like a shit midfielder that wouldn't get into any top 11. Yeah I know he's young.
For England, he was an obvious weak spot, in a vital position.
Are his passing numbers special? I don't see it, though I don't watch him that much.
Somebody please post passing stats for Mainoo if they are special.
No one wants to leave AFC once they get their bag of $, pure and simple.
The management team still have not worked out whom to pay and not.
Going to take years to get rid of surplus players deemed not good enough or too often injured.
It will be a miracle if we can move on ESR, Ramsdale, Eddie, Nelson, Partey, Tierney, Jesus, and Kiwior this year, and Tavares and Lokonga not on loan.
AFC is playing a game with their financial hands tied due to their own undoing.
This summer I guarantee you Eddie, Nelson and ESR will be leaving permanently. Kiwior and Ramsdale are 50/50. Loans or loans obligation to buy will be the conditions for them to leave. But the Hale enders are leaving.
I'm looking at the most expensive GK transfers in the history and Ramsdale is at #10.
There are legends of the game - Neuer, Cortois, Ederson, Buffon, Alisson.
And also GKs of lower quality/flops - Ramsdale, Pickford, Cillessen, Onana and Kepa.
The £30-35m we are probably trying to get for Rasmdale, would just about make him the 6th most expensive GK in the history. I don't see it happening even in this inflated era. I hope I'm wrong.
Not fair to list Ramsdale and Pickford next to incredible, expensive failures.
Kepa for example... fee and wages were astronomical and he got a 7 or 8 year deal I think. Look it up. Astoundingly bad move. Another rival failure some gooners ignore.
Onana sucks. Simple as. Grovers who wanted him were plain wrong.
Ramsdale barely cost 30m with a reasonable wage, and was good enough to get extended and raised, and almost nobody thought that was wrong at the time.
That is paper talk though. I doubt Edu will be like absolutely no if he gets a £20 mil offer. He will try to drive it up to 25 and he will sell. Our problem is the fact that a lot of teams already have good No 1 keepers or they have signed one recently. May be Chavs, Forrest, Wolves and Newcastle need keepers but the rest of the league has keepers already. Pool man City, United don't need him, Villa, Westham, Brighton, Brentford, Palace, all have keepers too. The market for him isn't there. But if he plays next season and he will play well wherever he goes on loan, the market will be there next summer for him. Southampton on loan is the paper talk.
No doubt that the hold up in closing Califiore is that we're trying to agree a deal for Kiwior somewhere. Him refusing to go to Bologna has limited us.
True. Definitely not urgent except that a hot European talent is keen to join us after the Euros and that's nice, and it would be cool to get him as Arteta clearly prefers him to Kiwior.
It's important that we offload Tierney and Tavares at least. Keeping Kiwior would not be bad.
I don't think the deal between clubs is a problem really - just us trying to coordinate it with Kiwior out simultaneously... if possible.
It is actually a better deal for United than they did with Varane with 34 mil and 350k a week. It is sort of a Saliba move with United tax. If he is a starter, the spot lights will be too bright and they will destroy him. But if they get another CB like De ligt and he starts in behind with a few starts then it will be good for them. Ultimately the success of this transfer will be judged based on what he will do in a few years. Saliba's transfer looked mad too. But it has been a resounding sucess now.
The problem with Manure is that they will not have the patience to coach him over 3 years to reach his potential. And this, unfortunately for Yoro, is the hilarious part here as they are hoping to have landed on the next Saliba and are hoping for immediate returns.
This is the difference here with when we bought Saliba. We were patient and we are reaping the rewards.
They are desperate. So they will spend big to get their targets. I already said it has a United tax on it. But the potential is in the same way when we signed Saliba. An 18 year old with only one season.
Lol, those fees after "But wait ---" are hilarious.
Anyway, We might have a bidding war for ESR with Palace and Fulham ready to go all in. This will be the saddest day for me with a player leaving since Sanchez. I so wanted this to workout because at his best ESR, is a marvel to watch. I defended keeping him last summer but he has to leave this time for his sake and ours.
Nelson also attracting interest because Westham want him as an addition (depth). Get 15 to 20 mil and we would have gotten market price for him, I would sell Eddie for anything above 25 mil. Marsille are interested and a PL club will be interested too as the window gets to come to a close. Ramsdale probably leaves on loan it seems because teams are set with keepers and no one that has an issue is willing to cough up the money. But we will get our money this summer or the nextt because he will play well wherever he goes. We wont get 30 mil but we will get 20 mil.
"Ramsdale probably leaves on loan it seems because teams are set with keepers"
We paid what, £25-30m for a GK with a couple of relegations and about to play in the Championship.
In his second year we were leading the PL for about 9 months. He got a call for the English NT team. Brendan Rodgers called him the best GK in the PL. Everything was roses.
In the summer of 2024 we renewed him on 2x his previous salary - from £60k to £120k pw, a month or so before we signed his successor.
He is in a new category compared to the stature he had in 2021 when we bought him. I believe his valuation, according to transfermarkt, placed him in top 5 GK in the world.
And still, who the fuck would pay "the expected" £35m+ for Rams and the £120k pw he's getting at Arsenal? Who?
After the savage benching Arteta, one of the brightest managers out there, performed, which of the big teams would take him? Spuds got a similar class GK to Ramsdale for £17m and put him on £75k pw.
Do we see a world where Ederson, supposedly moving to a Saudi Arabian team, leaves and City pick Ramsdale as his successor? Absolutely not. Watch them get Diogo Costa, the GK I've been talking about for 2-3 years now.
Chavs might be on the market for a GK but even they will probably not go after someone Arteta, the guru, decided is not good enough to bring titles to a club.
Even clubs below us like Villa and Everton arguably have better GKs than Rams. Newcastle has similar class. And none of the rest would pay what we want.
What an incredible mistake renewing his contract might have been. If he was still on £60k pw the market for him would have been way bigger. His first contract had him here until 2025 + an option for an additional year. He would have been already sold last winter probably.
Chavs are the only capable team of getting him but the hot names this transfer window are Lunin and Diogo Costa. I doubt they target Rams.
You are losing your mind again like every summer. Calm down. Ramsdale was a 18 mil signing before we signed him. Now he is 26, having played for a big club. And keepers longevity lasts a lot.
If he doesn't move this summer he will move the next one. A team will need a GK. It doesn't have to be a top team. It can be a Westham, a Palace, a Wolves. We will get out 20 mil back. But he has to play this coming season. Sitting on the bench is what will devalue him.
Yeah I think most of us wanted ESR to work out and get some proper game time. But clearly he wasn’t showing enough in training when he was available and that is critical for Art.
"But clearly he wasn’t showing enough in training when he was available and that is critical for Art." Clearly? I didn't know we have an Arsenal coach in our midst
You’re an odd one Mystic - nothing in my post indicated I had any inside knowledge. It’s a simple conclusion if I really have to spell it out to you - ESR isn’t being played and the reason for that is that he is being assessed by the Arsenal coach in training as to likely contribution in a match environment. Why do you find that so hard to understand?
It's well known that Arteta uses training as a barometer of willingness and readyness to play Arteta's system as instructed.
The problem with ESR is that he has missed so much training due to his constant injuries for 2 seasons in a row this has become a huge gap in his learning of Arteta's system. which is very difficult to make up.
As much as he is a talented player, it will take time for him to catch up, time that we no longer can afford to give him.

That's a strong hand. Not like Kepa or that weak buffoon Onana many gooners wanted.

Raya is simply better.
"Ramsdale barely cost 30m"
I literally wrote he's the 10th most expensive GK of all time? haha
I saw that. What's the point? To make Ramsdale look like a bad deal?
Kepa reportedly on £170,000 Per week, 7 or 8 year deal, and a £72m transfer fee... makes Ramsdale amd even his raise look like a snip.
On top of that ... Kepa was absolutely horrible in the premier league with balls going through his week hands constantly.
I just think lumping Ramsdale with him sucks. Ramsdale was voted keeper of the season, and earned a raise and extension.
There's about 5 levels between him and the joke transfer disasters of Kepa and Onana.
We're you one of the dozens who were crying because Arsenal chose Ramsdale over Onana?
If you weren't, you were in a small minority of grovers.

Clearly Mystic eats bananas for their shape and not the taste.
