I'm just reading today about Tom saying how there was no penalty on Havertz against Everton.
"For me Havertz steps in front of Keane with his left foot while he doesn’t have the full control of the ball. He gets stepped on, sure, but Keane is running in a straight line which he’s perfectly entitled to do."
A few years ago David Luiz ran in a straight line, the Wolves attacker took a long stride before shooting, and that stride brought his leg backward into Luiz’s running line. Luiz ran in a straight line as well.
Pen + red. Ref said it's a red, VAR agreed, we appealed it and the FA denied our appeal. Sure, the laws were different and Luiz was deemed to have not tried to play the ball so that meant his "action" (lol) deserved a straight red card. Luiz didn't try to commit a foul at all, it was accidental contact. Ref + VAR + FA all agreed it was a red card. The contact was completely accidental btw.
Now we're sitting here talking about Havertz putting his foot somewhere that causes the whole thing. Of course he will put his foot in front of the defender, to protect the ball and make sure the defender doesn't chase him down. It's a proper striker play, using his body to make sure he gets the space to produce a shot. Also, how on Earth does Havertz not have full control on the ball? Hello? The defender tries to run in the corridor the attacker might step in, there's a clear and heavy contact, it's a clear foul.
I agree it's accidental, that's why it should be pen + yellow instead of a pen + red.
One of the biggest Everton account on twitter, that talks a lot about refereeing:
"@Lea_EFC Mar 15
I’ve just seen this angle of the Arsenal penalty incident and I stand corrected, Keane treads on Havertz heal and it’s clearly a penalty and probably a red card too 🟥 I hold my hands up again 🙌"
You know how defenders have their arms behind their back in anticipation for an incoming shot towards their goal? That's making sure they don't commit an accidental handball. It's exactly the same when chasing a player. The defender should make sure he doesn't step on the attacker. You're talking about Havertz stepping in front of Keane. Look where Keane is stepping. His straight line leads directly on top of Havertz. His left foot steps on Kai's left foot while he's behind him. It's a stupid foul but a painfully obvious one. We've got Everton and Liverpool fans agreeing with it ffs. Some fans try too hard to be objective, they lose all their senses.
Will we get a PGMOL apology or worse, defense of the decision on the TV show? Or did they cancel the show because there were too many mistakes with preposterous, mental gymnast explanations?
I can’t even keep up with the clown show anymore; thankfully haven’t felt the need most of this season. But the speed of the “check complete” from VAR makes me worry that PGMOL might revert to their Fall ‘24 form in April/May ‘26…
We’ll just have to play through it and ram each win down their throats!
No,the media outlets are already knocking out stories of how we’ve benefited from Two favourable VAR decisions this season.according to the unbiased review panel( cough, cough)yes you heard that right.Two.
You just know ‘ contrarian Tom’ would view it differently raps, surely?just to put the record straight.it was a PELANTY all day & night long. Ask Chris waddle.anyone who says different should pay a visit to specsavers sharpish lol
I had a season ticket at Highbury for years and only had one at the Emirates for a couple of years. It became full of melts moaning if you sing, stood up or swore. So I’m all for a good, young atmosphere!
The number one priority this season is that we win the EPL Title and as Thierry Henry has suggested the manner we manage to do it is of no great importance.
Arsenal have won league titles under George Graham in similar fashion and we have also won them under Arsene Wenger playing a more expansive game.
I have been a supporter and season ticket holder since the 1950s and have watched the club
play all manner of games. Some were exciting to watch and others less so.
Currently we have an excellent squad. It is comparable to the "invincibles" if not better. Many
of the Invincibles were at the tail end of their careers in contrast to the current team.
Personally I hope that we have won the title by the time we play our home game against Burnley.
They should have been relegated by then with nothing to play for. I will be at that game and
hopefully we will see us presented with the Trophy.
Anything else we win this season will be a bonus. Hopefully we progress in Champions League
Completely agree. Becoming Champions and putting an end to a generation old PL title drought, is the #1 priority. Winning that would mean we're truly back as a top club.
If we should stop there and be happy with it? Of course not. But the PL should be above all and is the real litmus test of how far we've went. Cup competitions have an element of luck, including the availability of certain players in a specific game or two. Lifting the title means we're here and we're the best in the toughest league in the world.
Wow you must be a lot older than me to be a season ticket holder since the 50s,congratulations,I got mine in 1966 £72.00 including 6 FA Cup coupons, West Stand Highbury. ..
Unacceptable that Jesus was on the bench against Everton thus relegating Norgaard to the team's spectators section. That should not happen again. Arteta thankfully trusted Max, Gyokeres and Martinelli instead of the busted flush Brazilian, who only a few weeks ago was quoted as saying he wants to stay here! Understandable if you pick up c £250k a week for falling over and wandering offside I suppose. Also for tonight, it was obvious yet again that Madueke is crap on the left, not that much better on the right, so should not start. Saka and then Max if needed. Trossard will once again start if fit on the left and Martinelli will come on for him after an hour when the Belgian has done SFA. Mosquera should not keep starting at right back as when we need to win, White is a better option. Still think the former is better in the centre and not that comfortable at full back as he showed when he come on against Everton. Hopefully we get the win we need as otherwise Sunday mght be a difficult exercise!
I'm back. Gyok is and will always be way better than Kai!!! Kai only betters him in ball control. We've had Kai in attack for 2 years, what won we?
That were in the mixer for J Alvarez is proof that Kai is not and will not be it!! This is Gyoks first season anf he's on the way to over 20 goals. When last we had such player???
I thought we agreed to dead this matter, Pedro??? Your PR won't work
Kai is a better passer. Kai wins more one-on-one battles especially in the middle of the park with his heading ability as he will on occassion drop back and defend. Kai presses better. Kai's interplay with teammates is better. Kai's holdup is better. We've had Kai in attack for 2 years and often only Kai 2 games/week no rest because Jesus was crocked long term. Hey - we won consistently until he became tired due to lack of rotation options. Now we have 3 strikers and we'll get the best of them all.
I remember it well. Kai played almost every single minute of every game for a couple of months. We lost because we had no cover, no Jesus. We scored 91 goals that year. More than any other year in history. The squad was too thin. That's why Berta spent millions on better backup options
Gyok did NOT score goals when we needed him in the first half of the season. 6 goals in first 21 games (not sure how many of those were PKs). Why? because he did NOT have any cover then. He played the full 90 of every game. Both Jesus and Havertz were injured and Gyok too was tired and ineffective just like Havertz was when he was the lone striker that last 2 seasons. Once Gyok was only having to play 60 mins a game his performances improved. As I said now we have 3 strikers and we should get the best from them all.
Here's a novel suggestion. Imagine if they could do both! Strikers don't score much when the midfield is overrun. Zubi is gassed and Eze is not one to win duels.
Not part of his game but if it was I bet Pep would encourage it if it helped the team. What's next? Shall we demand a new forward on the right hand side? Saka has but 4 goals in his last 25 games. I suppose he too spends to much time in the defensive end of the park defending? If our striker needs to emulate Haaland then should Saka emulate Mo Salah whose goals also have won trophies? Your reasoning would demand a right forward that scores goals like Salah, we don't need him winning battles in our own end. Anyway - that's my opinion. You have yours. Cheers!
Saka has not been good this season. If you can’t see that, I can’t help you. Yes a goal scoring winger like Salah would be ideal. He’s been one of the best players in the world the last 5-6 years.
You'll never walk home on 8o mins alone!
Make Some Noise...
My boy and I will
(Thanks for the post Pedro - will read it on the way to the game)

As Pedro said, both Redknapp and Sturridge are calling it "horrendous" and "a complete disgrace" here - https://x.com/TwiArsenalfc/status/2032908684183880090

The first match I watched was Stanley Matthews playing in his 40s against us.
I have seen Arsenal winning 6 league titles. The first was when we beat Spurs 1-0
at White Hart Lane. I watched that match.
Mine was the Home defeat by Man United in February 1958 the week before the Munich Air Crash
I was at Spurs that Monday night in early May 1971 when we won The league and at Wembley 5 days later when we secured the double
Max can’t play tonight- he’s got double maths after school.
He’s bunking off!

Arteta's concern is White can't last 60 minutes.

What did we win with all of those stats?????
Instead we fluffed a league challenge with him in attack 2 years ago, remember?
The job of a striker is to put the ball in the net. Simple. Not glamour and paparazzi
I remember it well. Kai played almost every single minute of every game for a couple of months. We lost because we had no cover, no Jesus. We scored 91 goals that year. More than any other year in history. The squad was too thin. That's why Berta spent millions on better backup options
He didn’t score goals when we needed them. Unlike Gyok 14. A true #9.

Listen to yourself. Expecting Gyok to come in flying to a new league. New team. New system that didn’t play to his strengths.
He’s has 16 goals all comps. With some massive goals.
A great signing. Scored goals. Don’t give a shit about his duels.
We don’t need strikers winning battles in the middle of the park. We need them to score goals
Here's a novel suggestion. Imagine if they could do both! Strikers don't score much when the midfield is overrun. Zubi is gassed and Eze is not one to win duels.
How many battles does Haaland win on the middle of the park?
Not part of his game but if it was I bet Pep would encourage it if it helped the team. What's next? Shall we demand a new forward on the right hand side? Saka has but 4 goals in his last 25 games. Another great point you just made 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How many non penalty goals does Kai have since he’s been back?
Since that’s the metric they use against Gyok 14
My man Gyok 14 to cement his POTY award tonight with ANOTHER crucial goal.
1st
