Things are really kicking into gear as Arsenal shape and trim the squad for the massive battle ahead.
We speculated the other day that Fábio Vieira might be on the chopping block with some of the evolution in the squad (the day after I said he’d be our darkhorse this season). He’s just been sent out on loan to Porto for the season. The player has talent, but not in this Arsenal team. He’s technically incredible, but I don’t know if he can hack the role Arsenal want him to play. He’s not physically there and his pressing is pretty weak. This has been a failed Arteta experiment, and this will be stage one before he goes next summer.
Mikel Merino has been spotted at the airport wearing a Burberry London t-shirt. He’ll come in as our first-choice left-sided 8, which pretty much indicates that Kai Havertz is now the "Tall Boy" summer striker we thought we’d have to wait for.
