Nwaneri pinning the midfield?? He’s in France

Rap,

"Whoever is blaming Arteta should understand that Arteta hasn't stopped Madueke from making his usual 1v1 runs has he? Why do you think he would limit Eze from expressing himself?"

Because most of the bellends on here constantly bashing Arteta simply cannot fathom that he wants Arsenal to win. Everything.

Of course you're right about the lack of space against low block sides, but we know what Eze is capable of. See Spurs game.

Anyway, according to Estoban yesterday, anyone who thinks Arteta knows what he's doing is a MAGA fan LoL

raptora's avatar

Funny that as the way he talks is exactly the way MAGA supporters do. (not that I'm too much into that stuff)

Madueke going for 20 dribbles per game but you know, Eze isn't allowed to shine and do the things we literally bought him for by the manager is a new low.

On Eze.

Look, I like him. He's not among my favorites at AM - Palmer, Bruno, Rogers, but he's a quality player. I've always maintained he's a luxury signing but we needed to get at least one creative, the problem is, he's a low-touch final third forward who comes alive when there's space to attack, usually in transition.

His issue is, that he is highly specific and why I was mostly against his transfer.

- His favorite position on the pitch is a slightly left-sided forward, we've got Rice occupying that side.

- He's also, as I said, very reliant on having space, making him less than ideal match for Arsenal as we play against deep blocks in the majority of the matches.

- He is reliant on quick players running with him in transition - Palace have their full backs playing like wingers pretty much, with the knack of scoring goals, and they also have quick wingers.

- He's used to his team sitting in a compact shape, absorbing pressure before utilizing their speed and quick transitions to exploit space in the final third.

- He is used being the king at Palace, meaning he was the go-to guy and he was getting multiple chances per game, he was squandering most, then eventually one of his plays would work as intended. He's obviously not going to get such freedom at Arsenal where we have equally or more talented players than him and it wouldn't make much sense building our team around him.

- He is also relaxed or a bit lazy out of possession and he was a allowed to coast at Palace due to his offensive capabilities.

Either way, his performances have been disappointing and he isn't delivering even at his floor quality. It's the way he hides and it seems he's both unhappy, he's throwing temper tantrums or what he is asked to do goes over his head as he's completely ineffective and pretty much a ghost. He's not even demanding the ball or making sure he participates in the game. He's just walking the shirt.

Now, I've not lost hope. There's still a decent chance he gets better soon, but at this moment of time, he isn't fancied and for a reason. Whoever is blaming Arteta should understand that Arteta hasn't stopped Madueke from making his usual 1v1 runs has he? Why do you think he would limit Eze from expressing himself? He's got a few more things to consider in terms of tactical tasks but he is asked to do what we bought him for - be the difference maker in attack. Nobody is stopping him from that. It's up to him, and no one else but him to deliver.

All the reasons I mentioned is why I was wary of his transfer in the summer and I wasn't convinced. We also didn't need to buy a third AM when we renewed Nwaneri - we should have either sold Ode and bought one of the best AM on the market, or just move the funds for another position we could strike a better fitted player for us. Eze wasn't an ideal match for us for sure but I never expected him to perform as badly. However, I'm willing to let it all work out, cause if it doesn't, his return will be one of the most disappointing transfers we've ever made.

The Athletic is also clear Arsenal wanted to pay in the region of £40m to 50m for Eze. In the meantime, Spuds agreed a deal with Palace for £50m+10m. Havertz got injured, Eze called Arteta and our interest reignited. My issue with it - we were the #1 choice of Eze, Spuds had agreed for 50+10m, we used the good relation of Tim Lewis and Steve Parish to close the transfer quickly. What did we pay in the end? £60 fuckin million + 7.5 million in addons. How? Spuds were in the bin the moment we told Eze we want him. Why couldn't we match their accepted offer by Palace, and close the deal? Some shady business if I've ever seen one. We basically outbid a team by ~£10m when we were 100000% the player's choice. What happened? Is that why Tim Lewis left?

“Eze called Arteta and our interest reignited”

You just make shit up all the time and pretend you have insider info that is publicly available to everyone here.

Show us a transcript of the call. “reignited” yeah sure sure.

Are we flying in Nwaneiri for the FA Cup ? Is his loan subject to ‘quadruple fixture pile up recall conditions’ ? LOL

Can someone tell me why the hate for Berta? Correct me if I’m wrong but arteta picked berta to get the bumper contract like Simone!?

But then Berta is getting the blame for the transfers if they don’t work out

Have I missed something?

Pretty much his job is to identify and sign players, in addition to selling, loaning, renewing budgeting, etc. Tell me how will you evaluate him other than by the success of the players he's signed (shite), the success of selling players for good fees (shite), the success of loaning players (shite), the success of renewing players (they were always going to sign for Arteta and Arsenal regardless), and the success of his budgeting (spent an all-time Arsenal record for underwhelming players).

How do you evaluate a coach that's won nothing for 6 years? What's his job? Grow the squad value?

"Berta prioritized the move to Arsenal despite interest from other clubs, including AC Milan. The deal was finalized after he met with co-owner Josh Kroenke to discuss the club's vision".

I am glad it's not my job to write a daily blog on here at this present time .

I can't see it possible to rest everyone who needs it and only three days until we play at Wolves (who we were very fortunate to beat at Home with a pretty good squad.)

Wigan are hopelessly out of form but they will be physical and I really don't know who Arteta will chose and then if it includes Eze and Madueke and even Saka how will they perform ?

It would really be nice to enjoy our football with free flowing direct passing easy on the eye but then I am allowed to wish.

Ethan Nwaneri was an unused substitute in Marseille’s first game after Roberto De Zerbi left the club, a draw to Strasbourg as their fans protested.

‘Stands empty in protest. For a club self-destructing. All your projects go up in smoke during all these wasted years.’

Yikes.

I have more belief right now that Dowman can carry us through upcoming month with 30 minute cameos in the League than Eze or Odegaard.

Habesha Gooner's avatar

Pedro and some people still debating about Gyokeres others on Eze, Saka, Martinelli, Trossard tells you one thing. If your whole attack isn't performing and not one of them is having elite seasons when you have the collection of attackers we have, it is all down to Arteta. Even more, our DMs, and defenders and GKs are all having good seasons. That means we are set up for small margin wins. We are set up to get the best out of DMs and defenders instead of attackers.

Anyway, the debate on Arteta is pointless now. It is either he is going to win big things , or he is going to fall short again and he will have to leave. There is no in between this season. We have heard or sympathized with all sorts of excuses. There are no excuses this time. No amount of telling us he is great is going to change that. It is in his hands to be another pochettino or a winner.

We need to rotate today.

I will be looking at

Kepa, White, Mosquera, Calafiori, Hincapie, Norgaard, MLS, Eze, Madueke (Saka for 50 mins if he is fit), Martinelli, Jesus.

Use Dowman and Marli Salmon if we are winning well.

Yea I can't wait to see Nwaneri starting today............

We didn’t play well at Brentford, however, to say we were ‘dreadful’ is going too far. Brentford at home are tough opponents, no mugs. I’d be happy for many for the regulars to get a rest today. The Wolves game on Wednesday is far more important.

FartOfDarkness's avatar

Agreed it’d be nice to see some of the youngsters given a run out whilst being shepherded by some older heads in the need of minutes. I really don’t want to see Gabby in the line up, ditto Rice/Zubimendi and Timber. A careless injury to one of those and Arteta will look like a prime pillock
