Can anyone recall any other striker who was signed by a team that wins nothing, comes in and is top scorer in his first season and they win the league, and faces endless criticism from their own fans until ideally being hounded out within 12 months?
The Gyok hate is wild to the point of me literally being embarrassed for our fanbase
If Gyok gets a comparable number of minutes this season vs last (may not if Havertz stays fit), then Gyok will score more than last season. Absolutely nailed on
He will be playing in a second season, with what appears to be a reborn Odegaard + Bruno/sometimes MLS + Tzolis + hopefully Saka refinds his form
The above is a totally different creative landscape vs what we had last season
Talk of the average of the squad and new signings, but we have plenty of fantastic kids coming through if we choose not to shit the bed and sell them to fund these older players
Dowman
Nwaneri
MLS
Salmon
Are four teenagers already good enough to make appearances and in the case of the top 3 (since defense is a more sensitive space to risk a kid), they are all good enough to make 15+ appearances. In MLS’ case he should be in genuine contention to start for games every other week
All four of these players must not be sold (loans for a couple of them could be entertained)
But our plan should be to make hay while the sun is shining and rack up multiple more trophies this season and then sign a couple of amazing younger players next summer to keep the conveyer belt moving
What we must not do is lose our heads and revert back to project youth the moment we have some players in their late 20s. Project youth is why we went barren in the first place
Did I finally figure out how to make a comment on here again?
Haven't been on since the comment section changed, have to say it was vastly better before, reflected by the amount of posts I see. Nice to be able to edit though.
If Gyok wants out it won't be because of online vitriol of the fans, it would more likely be because he lacks friends on the squad. I love watching the players after the games to see who is chummy with who or the vids of the players in training or practice facilities. Who does he pal around with off the pitch?
I’m just struggling to come to terms with a transfer window that now looks like it’s net £200m and we haven’t signed a striker or a left winger that seriously affects the bar we’re trying to leap in tight games.
IMO in order to reach the top of the league last year we have played Rice and Saliba in to chronic disintegration. Both probably played after multiple cortisol shots.....then playing an intense World Cup. Looks like both may have sciatica, not always curable quickly. We don't repeat this year without them and we won't be getting even close to the same number of minutes from them this year. And consider Zubi was gassed and cannot handle that workload. And that Timber and White have NEVER been fit for long at the same time together then our priority had to be MF and right defense. The good ship Arsenal won the league but the last few years of battles did result in some severe damage to our hull. That needed to be fixed before we could invest in shiny new cannons. IMO our attack is pretty potent. However we face deep blocks 90% of our games. That is the only way to get a result against us. Even Pep adopted this last year. I don't think there were too many players available that would help us out against a deep block. Bruno is one. Tzolis is another. I'm excited now. The only way to improve the net spend is to sell.
Don't blame Gyok if he wants out. He comes in and helps us to deliver a first title in ages and we pay him back with more vitriol than we do for opposition players. Damn shame how a section of our fanbase have treated him including the you know who's on this blog.

I’m good with this signing.

You just know that if we get rid of Gyoketes, he's gonna do an 'Emery' on us and knock is out of the CL or something nauseating like that...
