I know some people think some of us moan about Arteta.

But wait a minute, let's have a civil conversation.

If Arteta doesn't win a trophy, what year will you want him fired?

2027? 2030? 2035? 2050?

For me, if he doesn't win a trophy this year, he should be fired.

Since everyone is now sure of ref conspiracy against Arsenal, are we saying Arteta will never win a trophy in England until we import refs from Spain?

Then, the only trophies left for Arteta is in Europe.

Did refs make us lose to Bayern last season? I remember the Arteta fans were boasting about how we'll hammer Bayern.

Did refs make us lose to Villarreal in the Europa League?

Did refs make us lose to Galatasaray (or Fernabahce) in the Europa League?

We've lost to some small teams (Bayern excluded) over the years. Just using refs and City as an excuse is untenable.

Positive injury news today. Saliba is back from Suspension, Timber is fine and things look okay regarding Gabriel according to Arteta. And Odegaard has been on the grass for a few weeks.

Calafiori will be out for a few weeks though and there is zero news on Tomiyasu who needs to be sold ASAP.

As soon as players start coming back, we will see a serious improvement in performances. And we will get closer to the top.

Just like in boxing, if you don't want your fate to be determined by the referees, then knock out your opponent. Gone are the days when referee can unilaterally determine the outcome of a game including ruling out a valid goal and allowing ones that are not, this time around the video is there to limit such. But if you want to win by a goal margin every time, then you have left your destiny in the hand of the officials.

Boxing is the most corrupt sport of all.

To compare it with football means we really are in trouble.

Expand full comment

well to be honest football is a fine margin game. if you constantly have an external influence favoring the opponent that will have an impact. it is easy to say we are better than opponent X but the margin is closer and closer every year. I would argue we are the best team in EPL if all players are available. however, we have lost players to injury reducing our ability to control matches. combined with the ref decisions we underperform our possible level by a degree that is higher than the one we are superior to others. it is a combination of multiple factors - ‚just‘ having bad refs shouldn‘t be a problem against worse teams in the league but in combination to injury etc we are in troublr

Rodri's winning balon d'or is more proof that football has become a rubbish sport. Not that I care about awards that are always rigged and have lost their original meaning.

Expand full comment

Iniesta and Xavi never won the Ballon d'Or btw.

Messi won it while playing for Inter Miami (lolz).

It's a joke award.

Expand full comment

"Messi won it while playing for Inter Miami (lolz)."

That's a dishonest take

He won it for the world cup that sealed his GOAT status

Nothing to do with his work in the MLS

Dishonest is giving the award to the player deemed to have performed the best over the previous season but disregarding the club football as a whole and giving it for a national team tournament he scored 5 penalties in? Whatever.

Expand full comment

This is the first time in a long time that a player that has worked hard all season is getting recognised, people have actually voted for performance instead of most popular. people are suddenly down playing the awards. The award is not meant for the strikers alone Neither is it meant for the champions league alone. Vinicius was rubbish for Brazil and great in parts for real Madrid alongside Bellingham. Vinicius doesn't have the talent of Cristiano let alone Messi. Based on the league alone maybe but there was Euro as well as copa in the same year, so why should the awards be based on the league alone. The award is not for the best dancer.

Rodri is a fouling machine that gets away with it. If that's what is being rewarded, then I rest my case. Rubbish sport.

Expand full comment

Lolol. Change sports asap

He does get away with countless fouls btw. Some are not even given, some are for yellows but he's spared. The City factor.

The Bournemouth loss is on Arteta

He didn't set the team up to win that game and then he made the wrong adjustments after the red card.

Nothing to do with PGMOL, or counting up to 115.

Expand full comment

What about the draw against Brighton or the draw against City or the draw against Liverpool?

Since our players were twice sent off for kicking the ball away (it was a foul against Rice btw), I've seen tens of times players do the same and not even be shown a 1st yellow card, let alone sent off. Saw it again against Liverpool with Diaz. Nothing given as expected.

The choking against Havertz from a Wolves player is up there by the same guy that later fingered Jesus' ass. Nothing given.

Van Dijk kicked Havertz about 3 times in the same incident. Nothing given.

Saliba's red against Bournemouth?

https://x.com/AFCAMDEN/status/1847707761930375336 this by the same VAR is a yellow.

That Colwill just about a week ago - yellow.

Look at this one - https://x.com/iam_philopearl/status/1850565237994356771 this is a yellow for van de Ven. This one is scandalous btw as the player is going 1v1 and is waaaay, waaay closer to the goal than the one of Saliba.

Rules are different for Arsenal. Always have been - I started following in 1997, back then it was Fergie, then Chelsea, then City, the opponents always supported by the refs in our detriment.

I don't want to even talk about it. The things we have to suffer to compete are crazy. Wenger knew it. Now Arteta sees it firsthand.

Just as a guideline though - if only that ill Newcastle goal against us was ruled out, we would have been champions last season.

They decided to cut our wings early this season to stop us early on. 6 points loss at a minimum due to ref mistakes. We're just at about 1/4 of the season. It's nuts.

I never thought I’d agree with the rules are different for Arsenal argument until this season.

It’s borderline criminal. I hate whining about officials but these guys have gone out of their way to screw Arsenal.

The Rice second yellow was outrageous.

The one against Trossard was justified and he’s a massive prick for being that petulant and leaving his team short. That one is on him.

The Willow one was a judgement call and we know the refs will show no mercy but others have been given the benefit of doubt but never Arsenal .:: and that’s the main reason for fans being disgruntled … that lack of fairness and equal treatment

Look.Gillet interfered from his position of influence on VAR when the ref had already made the decision. It wasn’t ‘ clear & obvious’.He had no reason to.But saw his chance.( as a Liverpool fan)Theres been enough of debate about it already. And there’s been widespread condemnation of it bearing in mind similar incidents.so unlike you Im not pleased to see him.Not in the slightest.Tom would prefer Mother Theresa. Each to his own.😉

Reading about the Ballon d’Or event and that was some disgraceful behaviour by Madrid and Brazilians, adults having a temper tantrum when they don't win is childish. I remember both Ronaldo and Messi would show up and there were no theatrics, I assume this is just Real trying to bully voters into correct decisions in the future.

You couldn’t make it up.Theyve just put John Brookes as ref for Newcastle match & the icing on the cake just to make sure we get f ** d over. Our old friend “ Jarred Gillet” on VAR.! He’s now officiated in some capacity ,correct me if I’m wrong, six of our last 10 ( sat) matches.Amongs other dubious decisions,he was the very one who made sure Saliba got his marching orders .

Sorry but this is a f*** ng wind up .The PGMOL are looking to finish us off this wk end.

Lets chill out on these referee conspiracy vitriol

Everybody is beginning to hear the incoherent babble and It's branding us gooners as cuckoo

Saliba was rightly sent off.

You can make a case for consistency but referees are not the same, same way not all managers are the same.

Personally, knowing who is officiating this sat.I fear the worst.Call it irrational if you like.Once again, hope they( you know who) prove me wrong.Ill be happy.

I’m sure Rodri will be devastated to hear that, just like Kane was before him.

Just saw a photo of Ode and his missus at a gala and she's heavily pregnant, about to pop out her child any day now, so our captain isn't actually injured he just taking some parental leave and will return soon when things are settled at home.

Oh, and one more to LeGrovers.

There is a small cabal who are determined to wind some of you up over Arteta, so why react so angrily to it. In the end Arteta is one of the best paid coach’s in the world but has a big sky blue juggernaut in front of him.

It’s up to him and Edu to build a strategically capable team to override the City juggernaut and silence these attention seekers

Can't disagree with any of that sentiment

Arteta accepts responsibility, It's his virulent defenders that work feverishly to shift responsibility away from him.

Expand full comment

Accepting responsibility is different from fighting and winning your battles. No matter how good Arteta eventually has become for us given the circumstances, there's a possibility that he ain't good enough to get to the finish line. The question is how long are people ready to wait before they are convinced? Our elastic levels are different. Mine is this season end. To Ciro and MG42, it was last season or 2, to Christian, maybe 12 years time. Don't get me started on kpankulu and Positive Pete. We all know ourselves.

Nobody is on a deliberate wind up. Just people who disagree on subject matters presented on a blog.

Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil striker Richarlison, has come out to verbally threaten authorities to ensure that Vini wins the Balon D’Or

On Twitter, he wrote that …“ E se o Vini não ganhar olé olé olá. O pau vai quebrar” meaning that ….

“If Vini doesn’t win, s**t is going to go down”

Is there a more numbskulled footballer than Richarlison?

The same lad who has a Neymar tattoo on his back, maybe Vini’s tattoo will appear pretty soon.

It is also always funny that many Arteta lovers always forget that in 2021 we were 15th at a point in the season.

8th with 1 trophy

8th

5th

2nd

2nd

This is our history under Arteta. People want to only mention 2nd like he didn't get us out of Europe. The only time I can remember in the last 20 years . Arteta was breaking all sort of records. I always ask what should we judge Arteta on. What is this metric that ww should measure all coaches by so it is subjective enough? Yes, Trophies!!!! So why can't we? Yes, because Arteta's trophy record is so bad.

First 5 years into management:

Jose Mourinho (Sep 2000 - Sep 2005)

🏆 Champions League winner

🏆 Premier League winner

🏆 UEFA Cup winner

🏆 League Cup winner

🏆🏆 Portuguese League winner

🏆 Portuguese Cup winner

Mikel Arteta first 5 years

🏆 FA Cup

This is who carrhagher compare Arteta to. This is insane what Arteta gets away with in terms of expectations.

I got in a taxi en route to the game . The driver spotted my scarf and said ‘ Arsenal are in for a shock today’.I enquired if this meant we’d win! ( He outed himself as a Citeh fan so I asked him how many points they would have deducted . He didn’t answer .

I was encouraged by Sunday and Pedro’s re port is on the money . Merino is adapting fast- that was a hell of a game to come into. If we can stabilise against Newcastle and Chelsea and get Odegaard back we are in decent shape . Liverpool didn’t look special. But Mikel tends to allow us to be too passive . We were brilliant until we went 2-1 up and after they equalised we took over again . Keep the faith

I keep reading we had a disqualified goal. No. It was not a goal, ref blew before ball went in. VVD and Konate stopped once they heard the whistle. Also, Van persie did less than this for his Barca red card. Another day, Havertz gets carded for delaying restart. No goal.

We keep dancing around the fact that our last 3 games have been below par and we are struggling with our play. We are too defensive and not killing opposition when we are on top. We had 0.05 xG in mlre than 40 minutes. This is crazy. Saka misses 1 premier league game and everyone is shouting.

More 5 years, phase 6 and we are here repeating same thing. We need trophies not excuses. We have Carabao cup, EpL, ucl and FA cup to win. Not these excuses and excuses.
