When Martinelli broke out and Klopp et al raving about a "generational" talent was born etcetera, his value spiked into the stratosphere! Now, frenzy has cooled...
Had we sold him back then, would be like a £80m Kroupi-the-latest-shiny-toy deal, adjusted for transfer market madness.
I really hope this is a PR move orchestrated by Arsenal and Newcastle to make them look good to their fans. Otherwise it is absolutely a terrible way to do business. Either you bid and start early or you do what we did to understand what gets it done and then agree on the first bid. We can't let this saga go on another week. If it is a PR move, I expect it to be sealed in the next three days. If that isn't the case, then Berta and our team have handled this very poorly.
I am still not convinced Vini Jr comes to us. I think they will meet him half way between what we are offering and what he has rejected from them now. He wants to stay so I think he will.
If that is the case, there is two ways to go about improving our forward line.
Go get Yildiz from Juve who have signed a top talent in Kerim Alajbegović who is a LW. They will sell if the offer is right.
And the other is getting Julian Alvarez with an offer of Gyokeres + up to 50m. Then we can go with Martinelli for another season with CFs/false 9s that can may be get the best out of him. Then we can sell him next summer.
If there is a good offer for him though, we need to sell this summer even if it means we get a prospect LW as his replacement like a Nusa.

The disappointing sales come down to bad PR and a clear understanding that Arteta plays guys he trusts and everyone thats on the block has lost the trust so they are bargain rack now. Transfers are about 25% talent and 75% expectations/brand promise at this point.

I feel the Bruno's deal is going to drag till the final day. Should have him wrapped up by now and put full focus on Vini or other targets.
