A very quick blog today… but the news is out, Mikel Arteta has gone straight savage mode and decided that the best move this evening is to allow Bukayo to continue in that ten role in the absence of anyone better.
This is interesting on a couple of levels.
It represents a represents a reward for Madueke, who has found a very rich vein of form over the past few weeks. The cushioned header, the Thierry Henry finish against Wigan, and the overall uptick in better decisions making has made him hard to drop.
This is also a bit of a slap for Eze, who has put in a 10/10 performance against Wigan as well. We’ve spoken about Eze being a player who needs an arm around the shoulder and a bit of a run to get going… not sure how this is going to make him feel.
But, Premier Leagues are not won on feelings. This is the warrior mode stage of the season and you have to put your best foot forward. Who is out here thinking Saka at 10 isn’t the best idea tonight?
You have a player who can move at speed, win duels, score his chances, and create like the best of them. Allowing him to tuck inside with Madueke on the outside gives Wolves a whole basket of super powers to deal with.
I’m in love with this for so many reasons, but mainly, because if he does well, it keeps Odegaard’s flakiness from wrecking out title run. I want Saka to smack up Wolves. I want a warrior in that 10 role. We have to have someone who is dedicated to output taking on the role… and most importantly, a player of unshakable beliefs.
So, let’s see what the boys have on offer… this is the most must win of must wins. COME ON ARSENAL!
