I worry about Saka at the weekend...Lissandro Martinez always goes out of his way to try to injure opponent players and after all the criticism he's gotten and the game at the weekend wrestling with Haaland I think he'll be EXTRA aggressive toward Saka. I was happy when Martinez was out injured but he's back and I think he'll be vengeful and primed to really go after Saka.

How anyone saw this play and then determined Goykeres got caught by defenders for reasons other than how the ball bounced is a mystery.

Now I will agree that his touch was shocking on one play where it was played to feet on the ground and he somehow miscontrolled it so badly his solution was to try an elaborate volley pass with his next touch!

We could’ve got a similar quality player or better for half the price , but he is ours now , wears the shirt with the right attitude, and we need his robustness to compete in four competitions.
I get Pedro tries to gin up traffic but there’s limits to criticizing a player, especially after he’s done alright.
I’m not sure about half the price as 60m isn’t that expensive for a 9. Tho granted there are probably some good 9s signed under the radar for half the price
Correct Tom. Gyokeres made a good run, was found by a beautiful Martinelli pass and did really well to hold off the first defender and cut towards the middle. He did mistime or misplace his pass to Saka but was alert and clinical with his shot. There's nothing in that play to be able to claim his touch off Martinelli's pass was poor or that he was so slow he got caught by a 37 year old defender.
We literally just saw him get tracked down in the league on the same move, similar crazy "ball bounce" aka poor touch, and he was tracked down here as well, but this defender was apparently auditioning for bottom half Portuguese Liga teams.

It was Sucic , a 22 y/o midfielder.
Sure, the 37 y/o Acerbi managed to get goal side on the play too, but only because the play itself developed into more than just a straight run on goal all out sprint style.
